Lets Make A Solar Panel
Really quick run-down, this will hopefully show you its not that difficult to make a solar panel.
Note: all dimensions and proper wire gauges can be found in a good set of plans.
Ok, lets start out with what makes up a solar panel really.
Part 1. A frame: all the frame will do is hold all the interconnected solar cells in place and keep them out of the elements.
You can make your solar panel frame out of wood or aluminum if you'd prefer.
Part 2. The solar cells: These are the little solar plates that collect the suns rays and convert them into electricity.
These can be found on ebay really easy.
Be very careful when handling the cells, since they are very fragile. We also suggest wearing rubber gloves when handling them, to help keep them clean and smudge free.
Once you receive you solar cells you will need to follow the directions in the guide and solder them together, in the order the guide suggests.
Then just silicon them to the frame.
Part 3. The cover: Just screw on a piece of plexiglass that you buy and have cut to dimension. Make sure there are no leaks and tah dah! You just made a solar panel.
